Foreign clients and documents

    Our practice carries out an intense range of activities and has developed specific expertise in treating matters with international elements: foreign citizens or companies and/or domiciled in a foreign country, documents coming or going abroad. We collaborate with international legal firms in Italy and abroad. Our clients are foreign lawyers, international law firms, foreign companies which carry out business in Italy or Italian companies which operate abroad, consulates and foreign embassies, Italian and foreign diplomats, foreign citizens who live, buy assets and invest in Italy, Italian citizens who live abroad or want to carry out business abroad.

    Foreign clients

    We are able to communicate and give legal advice directly in a foreign language (English, Polish, German), using modern means of comunication (electronic mail and videoconference). As for the languages we are not familiar with, we can communicate with the help of a trusted interpreter. We offer ourselves as a real point of accesss to the Italian legal system and local public administration, providing counsel to the client which, aside from being complete and exhaustive, is conveyed in an accessible and comprehensible way, considering the natural difficulties one finds when operating in a foreign legal system.
    Our office deals, amongst other matters, with the following:

    • Company Deeds (incorporation of any type of company, changes to incorporated companies, transfer of shares and capital), for foreign companies or companies intending to operate abroad
    • Preparation of documents and deeds to be used abroad (with legalisation by Apostille)
    • Deeds relating to successions (public wills, fiduciary deposit of wills, publication of wills, filling out and submission of declarations of succession) for citizens domiciled abroad who have property in Italy or foreign citizens residing in Italy
    • Choice of applicable jurisdiction according to principles of private international law
    • Matters or issues relating to the notarial area of practice, as well as providing legal advice and counsel relating to matters of civil law, successions, commercial and corporate law, as well as tax relief

    Documents coming from abroad or to be used abroad

    We can receive or draft documents in a foreign language, providing the necessary translations directly, or by use of our interpreters and we can obtain the necessary legalisations or apostille at the relative institutions.
    For example, this kind of service may regard:

    • Deeds and documents to be used abroad (powers of attorney, declarations, contracts, etc.)
    • Sworn translations of documents
    • Apostille and other legalisation
    • Deposit of foreign documents and execution of relative formalities in Italy (e.g. Register of Companies, Land Registry, etc.)
